Twittairport: The contest takes it all

Music fans(C) eyeQ- Fotolia.comTwittairport – Our web based tool to analyse Airports’ Twitter numbers shows the actual feedback by the social community: The monthly numbers of retweets and favorites each airport received on its published posts and replies. See the May data here …

Status count means all posts, replies and retweets an airport has tweeted during the reporting month. Feedback count is the number of posts and replies, which other Twitter users retweeted or marked as favorite. The factor is a percentage from feedback by total number of statuses. The other columns show how many times the feedback posts in total were retweeted or marked as favorite by other users.

We can evaluate a number of reports from which we learn how extensive is the feedback on the tweets and replies posted by airports:

Top 10 Airports with the most tweets, retweeted and favorited by others on Twitter in May 2014

These airports got the highest numbers on feedback. That means for example the Aeropuerto Maiquetía in Caracas, Venezuela (Twitter screen name: SVMI, IATA code: CCS) posted in May 1,249 tweets (statuses, replies and replies). 752 of them (60.21% from total) were retweeted (by 1 June 2014: 1,512 times) and favorited (by 1 June 2014: 440 times) by the social community.

Top 10 Airports with the most received retweets on Twitter in May 2014

Dublin Airport, Ireland (Twitter screen name: @DublinAirport, IATA code: DUB) got on 348 tweets in May the most retweets from the social crowd. We will see a bit later in this blog post, what was the reason for this feedback. These Top 10 airports do have a significant high factor of feedback. It seems, that airports’ content was much appreciated.

These airports got the highest numbers on feedback. That means for example the Aeropuerto Maiquetía in Caracas, Venezuela (Twitter screen name: SVMI, IATA code: CCS) posted in April 1,460 tweets (statuses, replies and replies). 924 of them (63.29% from total) were retweeted (by 1 May 2014: 2,393 times) and favorited (by 1 May 2014: 617 times) by the social community.

Aeropuerto El Dorado, Bogota, Colombia (Twitter screen name: @BOG_ELDORADO, IATA code: BOG) got on 40 tweets in April the most retweets from the social crowd. Airports on Twitter in numbers: More than 600 accounts, two million followers, 500 thousand friends and 40 thousand tweets every month. Twittairport by solterbeck.net is a free of charge tool. You are able to report the most important changes of worldwide airport’s Twitter accounts based on monthly statistics.   • London Heathrow (Twitter screen name: @HeathrowAirport, IATA code: LHR) was the airport account with the most followers ever on Twitter: 185,654 (a share of 8.23% of total airport followers). All airports by number …
  • Five British airports with their Twitter accounts were amongst the “Top Ten Airports by Number of Followers” (with a share of 20,25% of total airport followers)
  • Los Angeles International Airport (Twitter screen name: @LAX_Official, IATA code: LAX, details in Twittairport) got in November the most new followers: plus 27,244! Usually a few hundred new users would be added monthly. On November 1, 2013, a shooting occurred in Terminal 3 of the Los Angeles International Airport. A 23-years-old man has been accused of killing a security officer and injuring several other people. Apparently in anticipation of a good information policy more than 26,000 new users followed @LAX_Official within 40 hours after the shooting. All airports by change …
